“The 5,000 successful participants will undergo sector-specific training aimed at enhancing their business & personal skills. The training will improve their ability to seek funding from Devpt Fin Inst (DFIs) & increase their chances of succeeding as individuals & business owners.
“The second phase of the @YouWiNConnectNg Capacity Building is scheduled to take place in 25 locations across the six geo-political zones, and will last for three days. The training will be facilitated by reputable programme partners specialized in developing SMEs.
“The @YouWiNConnectNg initiative, which promotes entrepreneurship as a viable career option for young Nigerians, has supported the growth and development of SMEs with over 61,000 participants receiving online training and capacity building.”
You will recall that the YouWiN Application Portal now YouWiN Connect Nigeria is a re-launch of the YouWiN programme of the Nigeria Federal Ministry of Finance.
The scheme commenced the online training last year which is geared at strengthening the entrepreneurial capacity of each participant through exposure to relevant SME development materials and tools such as technical, legal and financial skills in business management.
This training began on Tuesday December 5, 2017 and was delivered exclusively on the YouWiN! Connect Learning Management Platform.
Over 55,500 candidates were shortlisted for this training.
The YouWin! Connect Online Training platform went offline for technical maintenance form 14th to 21st December 2017.
During the period, candidates were unable to access all training modules and assessments. But, the duration of the Online Training was extended by an addition of 1 week.
According to YouWin! Connect; this maintenance was due to some participants of the Online Capacity Building program putting the integrity of the program at risk by fraudulently responding to assessment questions.
“Some participants created groups on WhatsApp and Facebook where they post screenshots of completed end-of-module assessments for others to copy and score the maximum. Fraudulent participants have gone as far as publishing the answers in books and appending the YouWin Connect Log on the publication.”
“This type of activity defeats the purpose of the Online Training, as these participants are now focused on scoring the maximum points at the end-of-module assessment without learning form the content provided.”
The program has taken measures to forestall these fraudulent activities by restructuring and resetting the assessments modules.
Other measures taken include, identifying and flagging fraudulent accounts on the platform. Any participant caught engaging in fraudulent activities will be removed from the program.
So finally, YouWiN has announced the names of successful candidates for the second phase for its training.
The YouWiN Connect Application for 2017 was opened on July 24 and it is free.
Application closes August 30th, 2017.
